Dr Pepper started in Waco, Texas in 1885. The creator, Charles Alderton, was a pharmisist whose hobby was running a soda fountain. He loved the way that all the sodas smelled together, and wanted to create a drink that would emulate that smell. After much experimenting he came up with the 23 fruit flavors that make the drink what we all know and love today as Dr Pepper, then called Waco.
He showed it to his boss, a man named Morrison, who loved the drink, as did customers all over. They could not keep up with all the demand for the soda. Robert Z. Lanzenby, owner of the Circle "A" Ginger Ale Company, offering to produce Dr Pepper. Alderton didn't want to get into big buisness, so he let Morrison and Lazenby take over. Together they formed the Artisan Mfg. & Bottling Company, later to be called the Dr Pepper Company. They introduced Dr Pepper at the 1904 World's Fair in St Louis, where Hamburgers, Hot Dogs with buns, and ice cream cones were introduced. Dr Pepper became a hit, and the rest is history.
