Effleurage is a

smooth stroking motion using the palms of the hands. It is used to

evenly distribute shampoo or conditioner. It is important to always

keep one hand on the client when carrying out this movement as it

used to relax the client and they may receive a jolt or surprise if

contact is broken. Effleurage is also beneficial to long hair as

the stroking motion prevents tangling and ensures conditioner is

applied all the way to the ends.
