How do you calculate the angles for a pie chart?

1. Add all the numbers together to get the total. (e.g. 3+4+5= 12)

2. Divide each number by the total, noting your results (3/12= 0.25, 4/12+0.3333, 5/12=0.1467)

3. Multiply each of the results by 360, that will give you your answer in degrees (0.25x360= 90 degrees, 0.3333x360= 120 degrees, 0.1437x360= 150 degrees

4. Add the answers together to insure you haven't made any mistakes. If you have made a mistake you will not get 360. (90+120+150= 360)

An easier way to calculate the angles for a pie chart is to:

• divide 360 by the total of your information
• keep note of the division answer then multiply every number by your division answer
• add the angles together to make sure you have 360
