Who would win in a fight or war drug cartel or mafia?

from the era of 1920's-1990's the mafia was impossible to eradicate. they were gods among men really, and garnered more respect than anyone.The average joe would disrespect the president before they would say something to a mafia don. during that time,alchohol smuggling, extortion,racketeering,murder,loan sharking, you name it, they ran it.

Mexican drug cartels lliterally completely own Mexico now. they openly admit (the politicians of mexico) that they have to keep drugs illegal in mexico because if not the drug lords would have them kidnapped and executed on tv. (this has happened, its documented). the same thing happened in America with the mafia, but the government kept quiet about the extent of their actual control. However, the mafia is still very active. They are much more descrete, and manipulate politics and money at the highest power. the mafia got away with assassinating kennedy and Robert! the Mexican cartel can be gotten rid of by doing one simple thing, LEGALIZE ALL DRUGS. they would disappear then. mafia, they would still thrive, and they very much still do in America, Italy, and all over the world today.
