Which continent is suffering from drought?

Australia is and has been and it also isn't unusuall for them.

Most of Australia, other than the tropics, has been in drought for the past 12 years. Periodically, shires (regions) are taken off the list of drought-declared areas, but given Australia's essentially dry nature; they Australia has had many droughts, and in some parts of the country these droughts are continuing even today. There is always a region or shire in Australia which is drought-declared at any given time. It is the geography of the continent which makes Australia so prone to droughts. Some of Australia's major historical droughts include:

• The "Federation drought" 1895-1902
• The drought of 1914-15
• The World War II droughts between 1937-45
• 1965-68 drought
• The 1982-83 drought, culminating in the horrific Ash Wednesday bushfires
• El Niño - 1991 through to 1995

This list is by no means exhaustive, as drought continues in many regions, and has done so since the beginning of this new millennium.
