What is the difference between a chain of title report and a title abstract?

The chain of title only reflects the respective owners of the property over a certain period of time and in chronological order.

The abstract of title, or title abstract, reflects all transactions, including deeds, mortgages, rights of way, easements, tax liens, court cases, judgments, etc., that affect title to the property from the earliest date of public records to a current date.
