On the Day of the Dead, the spirits of children are traditionally expected to arrive at sunset on November 1st, which is known as Día de los Ángeles or Día de los Muertos for children. Families create altars, or ofrendas, adorned with photographs, favorite foods, and toys to welcome these spirits. The festivities continue until the evening of November 2nd, when the spirits are believed to return to the afterlife.
