Who bombed us on September 11?

The September 11 attacks weren't exactly a bombing. Instead Commercial airliners were hijacked and flown into buildings. The attacks were planned and carried out by al-Qaeda, a group of militant Islamic extremists. It is a multinational organization with no formal or official affiliations with any country or government.
