What are the system requirements for playing a .mkv file?

There are no specific system requirements for .mkv files. Matroska is a container format, similar to AVI. It does not in itself determine what codecs are used for the audio or video. The requirements to play back almost any type of video depend on the resolution, thus the higher the resolution, the more powerful a computer you need to play it.
