Where do tornadoes go after they destroy a town?

After hitting a town a tornado will typically keep going for a bit, usually traveling eastward. If it travels far enough it might even hit another town. Eventually, though the tornado will dissipate, essentially ceasing to exist. It is rare for a tornado to last more than an hour.
