If a conventional aircraft was to enter space, which it wouldn't be able to, a number of catastrophic failures would occur to the aircraft. Firstly, due to the lack of oxygen, the aircraft's engines would fail, stopping all electrical and hydraulic power. Also, occupants of the aircraft would receive fatal hypoxia due to lack of oxygen, plus the fuselage would rupture due to high pressure differential. Furthermore, the aircraft would have no form of control, and so would float uncontrollably either into deep space, if escape velocity is achieved, or will return to the earth's atmosphere where it would break up and heat, resulting in a cloud of plasma forming around the craft and catastrophic structural failure.
