Answer

The main driver behind weight loss and weight gain is calories eaten vs calories used up.

If you eat more calories than you use, you will gain weight.

If you eat less than you use, you will lose weight.

I'm not saying it is easy, but it is that simple.

There is nothing magical or even particularly helpful about papaya as such.

It's all down to sticking within the calorie budget.

If you trade a 450 calorie cupcake for 100 calories worth of papaya, then, sure the papaya will "help". Not b/c it is papaya, but b/c you are eating fewer calories, and, maybe through that, staying within your calorie budget.

But if you are still over your calorie budget, then you won't lose weight. Papaya or not.

Answer

While papayas are great for you, they don't necessarily help with weight loss. There really are no foods that will - the best way to lose weight (and keep it off) is to reduce calorie intake and increase your exercise.
