Are greenhouse gases a good thing?

The natural greenhouse effect means that the earth is warm enough for life because of the greenhouse gases. This is a good thing. But too much greenhouse gas, which is happening now because we are still burning fossil fuels and have cut down too many forests, is causing Global Warming and climate change.

A:Yes and no. Enough greenhouse gases would make Earth warm and comfortable for us to live. Too much would cause much of what we love to slowly melt, like homes bordering the beaches, because glaciers and ice caps are melting and increasing sea levels.
