How did the Spanish prove to be excellent allies in the revolutionary war?

Spain helped because they sent money over to the Patriots to get supplies for the weapons and war necessities. The French helped because they sent soldiers over to fight in the battles and the war. Also they had ships that sent soldiers, messages and war things.
