How do you convince mother to let you use headphones?

Your mother should be happy that you want to use headphones. By using headphones, whatever you are listening to will not be heard by anyone else, so you won't disturb anybody. External speakers are much more intrusive, since the sound will be heard by everyone in the vicinity.
