What are holy Scriptures accepted by some but not all Christian's?

The scriptures are accepted by all Christians as the inspired Word of God, but their interpretation of that scripture varies widely.

Some of the more fundamentalist Christians regard The Bible as the inerrant Word of God as if it were dictated by God himself. Thus they see it as utterly infallible and never to be questioned. In the English speaking world they usually refer to the King James' version Bible only as the 'modst reliable' translation despite the fact that this translation came from the later Latin Vulgate Bible and not from the original Greek or Hebrew scriptures. This may be a laudable position, but there is a real risk of using the Bible as ammunition to support bigotted views and prejudices, regarding race, sex, homosexuality and so on.

However, most Christians regard the Bible as God-inspired but written by a varied group of humans and therefore prone to human fallibility, despite being divinely inspired. Thus it is important for the forward- thinking Christian to study scripture at several levels and not just accept it at face value or literally, without question - after all the Bible is a complex collection of varied genres of writing, historical, fiction, apocalyptic, poetry and so on that needs sensible study to discern its hidden meanings correctly. Thus most forward thinking Christians who place Jesus first and not replace Him with an ancient book as a new 'god'. In that way they lay themselves open to the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives so that scripture can be correctly interpreted and used for its proper purposes - to help and guide rather than to control one's life.
