Police officers are paid by the hour, and they collect your pay the same way that anyone else is paid. They receive a paycheck, or have the funds deposited into their bank accounts directly. Most officers are paid every other week, or twice a month.
Another view: SOME police officers may be paid an hourly wage, however MANY others (most?) are paid a salary based on a yearly wage figure. As stated above they are paid on a regular schedule either bi-monthly (24 paydays) or every two weeks in 26 equal pay periods.
