How do you write a speech on an essay's topic?

i actually find speech writing difficult but now I've learned a lesson from my teacher..

you should totally know the topic but if the topic was already given like on an essay, you should give ideas that you know about that particular topic and then after that, you should come up with subtopics that relates on the main point.
