What is nlets region code?

NLETS is an acronym for National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System. It requires IDs for subscribing LE agencies. The most common use of it is enabling the Police to run out-of-state DLs without having to go to NCIC. It currently has 8 regions designated A-H. The region codes are currently the region letters prepended to the numeral 1. For example the code for region A is A1. This schema allows for expansion of region codes by use of numerals other than 1.
