How do you get to world 7 in Super Mario Bros?

There are two ways to unlock World 7 in New Super Mario Bros.:

• Get there by using a cannon, or
• Land the last hit on the World 5 castle boss as Mini Mario/Luigi. If you do this, the sign that says 'W6' will flip around and change to 'W7'.
