Are you allowed to buy and sell birds in Islam?

Islam lays stress to be kind to all humans, animals and birds. Birds like hens, doves, partridges etc can be bought and sold for eating purposes. Keeping small birds in cages or catching birds which are not Halal (lawful for eating) and selling them is not a lawful profession in Islam. Pigeons may be kept free at home. They may be sold and bought.
