This is my first motorcycle and the seat on my 1999 Yamaha v star 650 will not lift off. How do I remove the seat?

The seats come off by first taking the bolt from the rear seat on top of the fender, then the front seat just pull it toward the back of the bike. The front seat is not bolted down. It has two trajectories aimimg towards the front that slide inderneath something else to hold it in place.
