A hybrid vehicle is very similar to an ordinary gasoline powered vehicle. The distinguishing factor is that a hybrid car uses an electric motor alongside the ordinary engine to improve gas mileage, or in the case of the Toyota Prius, power the car solely by electricity when driving under 30 MPH.
