The answer is: "maybe." From what I have found, depending on the state, it isn't an automatic disqualification from being licensed. However, it must be disclosed and will be found on your background check which will include your DMV records.

It most certainly does not look good on the application but the conditions of the arrest, the amount of time since the conviction (a minimum of 5 years in some states) and your behavior since that time will be taken into account in the determination.

I would highly suggest contacting the licensing board for the state in which you are considering becoming a Cpht prior to going through the expense and effort of taking any classes/courses.
