Why are some people scared of gay people?

I don't have a problem with them, but its mostly with girls and lesbians, it's," as long as they don't hit on me, we're ok". But for guys, it's a WHOLE different level, some just feel that they're freaks, and freaks are needed to be beat on, also, they also feel uncomfortable and just first response is to dislike that type of thing.
