What constitutes a chip in?

A chip-in refers to a situation in Golf where a player makes a short, low-risk shot from around the green, typically using a wedge, to get the ball close to the hole or into it. It often occurs after the player has missed the green in regulation but is still in a favorable position to make a quick recovery. The goal is to minimize the number of strokes taken on that hole, ideally resulting in a par or better. Chip-ins can also be seen as a display of skill and touch around the greens.
