Honestly. Adoption applications are designed to match dogs with appropriate homes. They usually ask questions about lifestyle, schedule, living situation, etc. Comparisons are usually made based on both what the dog and the home need. Although someone might be looking for a hound puppy, their lifestyle and experience might not be the best option for a hyper, prey-driven, difficult-to-train puppy. Oftentimes, if a rescue group or shelter does not think it's a good match, they will recommend another dog that might be better-suited for the home.
