Where does the material come from that builds beaches?

The material that builds beaches primarily comes from the erosion of rocks and cliffs, as well as sediments carried by rivers and streams. Ocean waves and currents transport these sediments, which can include sand, gravel, and pebbles, and deposit them along shorelines. Additionally, coral reefs and marine organisms contribute to beach material through the breakdown of calcium carbonate structures. Over time, these processes create and shape the sandy or pebbly surfaces we recognize as beaches.
