Why is the Caspian lake larger than Caspian sea?

The term "Caspian Sea" is a misnomer; despite its name, it is technically the world's largest enclosed inland body of water and is classified as a lake. It is referred to as a sea due to its historical significance, size, and saline water content, giving it characteristics similar to seas. Its immense area and volume surpass that of any true sea, making it the largest lake by surface area in the world. Thus, while it's commonly called a sea, it remains a lake in terms of classification.
