What are portable generators?

Portable generators are pieces of equipment used to convert fuel (gasoline, kerosene, LP, etc) into electricity and are designed to be moved from one site to another. They are helpful during power outages in residential settings and can be used where electricity is not available - such as construction or camping sites. They should be regularly maintained and tested. Keep fresh fuel on hand. You never know when that emergency will happen. There's nothing worse than needing your generator only to find it gummed up or inoperable, because the time when you really need it will be when timely repair or replacement will be nearly impossible.
