The Poor Men of Lyons, also known as the "Poor of Lyons," was founded by Peter Waldo in the late 12th century. Waldo, a wealthy merchant from Lyons, renounced his wealth and began preaching a life of poverty and simplicity, emphasizing the importance of living according to the teachings of Jesus. This movement is often considered an early precursor to the Waldensian movement, which sought reform within the Church.
