How any states were there in 1841?

In 1841, there were 26 states in the United States. The last state to join before that year was Arkansas, which became the 25th state in 1836, followed by Michigan, which joined in 1837. Texas, which gained independence from Mexico in 1836, was still an independent republic at that time and would not join the Union until 1845.
