When do lychees come into season in the UK?

Lychees come into season around the last week in December or if you are really lucky just before Christmas. The first crop is usually from Madagascar and are not as sweet as those that come later on. I find the best ones are from South Africa. Unfortunately the season is very short and the best ones stop around the end of January!
