Is coal an energy

'Coal' is a hard black shiny carboniferous rock.

When combusted with oxygen it will release heat(Energy). It also releases carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide amongst other gases.

The resultent solid in impure carbon , known as 'coke'.
