In order to get the poison, they must eat poisonous insects, usually ants and grasshoppers, which also provides them the nourishment they need. They also need moisture- if you set them in a desert for about ten minutes, they'd be dead. Other than that they are not particularly adapted, but those things alone restrict them to the rainforest environment.
