Betelgeuse is not located in the solar system.
Astronomers have had a lot of trouble trying to measure the distance to Betelgeuse,
and their conclusions have varied over a wide range. The best estimate now for the
distance to Betelgeuse is 640 light years.
That's a little over 40 million times as far from us as the Sun is.
Betelgeuse is also interesting in another way ... its size. It may be the largest star known.
It's estimated that if our Sun were at the center of Betelgeuse, then the orbits of Mercury,
Venus, Earth, Mars, and possibly Jupiter and the asteroid belt, would also be inside that star.
