Democracy leads to underdevelopment in the following ways:-
1) It ensures competition among political parties, and the political parties lose their full confidence of their victory. Due to this, when they get elected, they enjoy the most among themselves by spending more money for their own benefit which ultimately leads to corruption. Thus corruption leads prevents development of a particular country or nation.
2) Many of the country's or nation's resources get wasted in election campaign and practices by political parties to win elections, etc. This is also do not bring development.
3) Also many political parties use some wrong ways to win elections by bringing some non-citizens into the country, or etc. This is just one of them. In this, the non-citizens that had been migrated in the country use the limited resources of the country and thus lead to underdevelopment.
4) Generally, democracy involves lengthy discussions to take any decision (mostly in India). This means decisions requires long times to be implemented and this leads to delays in development.
5) Also, reservation is another reason. This involves the lacking behind of eligible ones and putting forward the backward groups. In this the proper person is not employed, which may further lead to underdevelopment.
