Why is it possible for an egg to be fertilized in the pelvic cavity of a female instead of here reproductive tract?

An egg can be fertilized in the pelvic cavity if the sperm travels through the female's reproductive tract and encounters the released egg in an abnormal location due to conditions like ectopic pregnancy or pelvic inflammatory disease. In rare cases, the egg may be released from the ovary and fall into the pelvic cavity instead of entering the fallopian tube. If sperm is present, fertilization can occur outside the ideal environment of the reproductive tract, although this typically results in complications for the embryo.
