Where is coal mined?

In a great number of places; coal is VERY common. England, central Europe, many places in the United States especially in the Appalachian Mountains through Illinois, much of Central Asia. Canada, especially Nova Scotia (running through my mind all the old folk songs about coal mines and mine disasters.....)
