Personification - “It’s a pretty river the Corsica. But it doesn’t
have a heart...” (pg. 5) This example is personification
because it is giving the river a human trait and shows the
reader that the river is heartless. This means that the river is
cruel and unfeeling, which leads me to believe that
something horrible must happen on the river and creates
foreshadowing.
