The glyocalyx is a layer of proteoglycans, glycoproteins, and other molecules found on the surface of endothelial cells. It plays a role in cell signaling, cell adhesion, and regulation of vascular function. Dysfunctional glyocalyx can contribute to various cardiovascular diseases.
