How do you prevent getting eye boogers during the day when you put makeup on?

i used to have this probem everyday at school when i would wear mascara and my eyes would always go red because i used to pick it, anyway al i doo in the morning is get some moisturizer and then put your make up on then apply more it works for me if i dont dry it up before i go to school :) hope i helped
