Did Amelia Earhart accomplish her goal on her first try?

Amelia Earhart did not accomplish her goal of completing a circumnavigational flight around the globe on her first try. In 1937, during her attempt, she and her navigator, Fred Noonan, disappeared over the Pacific Ocean. Prior to that, she had achieved several milestones in aviation, but the round-the-world flight ultimately ended in tragedy.
