Why is a 6 figure reference grid accurate than a 4 figure grid reference?

As it is 100 times more precise -

a place could be anywhere in a big square,

but dividing horizontal into 10 smaller lines, and same for vertical,

makes 10 x 10 = 100 smaller squares.

So aplace can be found more easily.
