Did people really cut Black Dahlia body in half?

Elizabeth Short, aka Black Dahlia, was found in a vacant lot in a quiet Los Angeles neighborhood on January 15, 1947. The body had been drained of all blood and cut completely in two, severed between the third and fourth cervical vertebrae.
