The color scheme of a spa is highly important. It will change the entire mood of the spa, making it harder or easier for patrons to relax.
Colors schemes evoke emotions. Whether consciously or not, people will be affected by their environment, so the color scheme of a spa should use colors that evoke emotions fitting to the spa's goals. Red and yellow evoke fear, blue and green evoke relaxation. Light colors can open up the space, dark colors can close it in. Warm colors can invite people to stay awhile, cool colors can feel sterile.
Colors interact with other colors differently. In a complementary color scheme, the two colors have very high energy when placed next to each other. In an analogous color scheme, the colors are all light and dark shades of the same color, so when placed next to each other they are low energy. A spa with a high energy color combination will focus the patrons' attention on the decor, a spa with a low energy color scheme allows the patrons to focus on themselves and their treatment.
