There is no government mint in New England. The four mints in current operation are:

Philadelphia (P) and Denver (D) - circulation coins

San Francisco (S) - proof and some commemorative coins

West Point (W) - commemorative and bullion coins

There are plenty of private mints, though. They make collectibles and bullion pieces for investment purposes, but they don't make coins for the government. Perhaps that's what you've seen.
