Which country does Asterix and obelix originate from?

Asterix lives on the west coast of Roman occupied Gaul, in Amorica. In present day France this is now Britanny. The map provided in the books (see related link below) suggests that it is somewhere near Cherbourg-Octeville, although the unamed village is in fact entirely fictional.
