Why is it that many major department stores no longer offer Gift Wrapping services?

Cost is the main issue for discontinuing this service.Employees need to be paid for this service,so the cost is passed on the customer.If a customer gets an item on sale,the cost to wrap it may be more than the gift itself cost.Some customers are also going green and either foregoing wrapping, or using used giftwrap or recycled materials,like comic pages,to wrap their gifts.
