How can youth help on environmental problems?

You can encourage them to recycle. You can also encourage them to carpool. It is a lot easier for kids to carpool than it is when you are an adult because kids all go to just the schools provided in your local area rather than the thousands of work places in your local area. Have them encourage their parents to buy energy efficient light bulbs. You can also encourage them to be less wasteful of things too!
